This has been a very exciting week! We have a new President and Vice President of the United States and new Congressman. Our students have been studying how our government works. We also have be reading about President Obama, Vice President Biden, and their families. The students have learned about biographies and autobiographies.
Next week, I will be showcasing some of the autobiographies that they have written. They are very proud of their work. I hope that you will look in next week and review what they've done. Leave them a comment, it would really encourage them.
Be safe and have a great weekend!

Another Favorite
My favorite story is Tarzan. This is my favorite story because it has fun and harmony and lots of action going on. My two favorite characters are Tarzan and Cheetah. Tarzan is my favorite character because he is strong and brave. My second favorite character is Cheetah. He is a monkey who is funny and cool. I recommend this book for everyone who likes harmony, monkeys, and people who swing through the trees.

Inauguration Day
Wow! What a day. I was so caught up in the inauguration day activities that I forgot to write in my blog. My niece was in Washington, D.C. for the event. She went with a school group from Gurdon, AR who were there for the Close Up Program. It allows students from all over the country to watch Congress while they are in session so that the kids get a better understanding of how our government works. She was standing in a roped off area and was able to get a good view of the stage and the activities there. Regan was also invited to one of the ten inaugural balls. When she gets back, I will have pictures to add to the blog. I also plan to interview her and have her come and speak to my students about the inauguration. I am very excited for her. What a memory!!!!
Have a great day!

Snow White
My favorite fairy tale is Snow White because she is a good person. My favorite character is the Prince because he is charming and cute. The other reason I like him is because he saved Snow White from the evil Step-Mother. I like this fair tale because it has romance, and it is a good book. I recommend this story to children all over the world.
Read and find out how the Prince rescues Snow White!
Thanks,

Another Cinderella Story
This review is by Keonna:
My favorite fairy tale is Cinderella. Cinderella is my favorite character because she is nice and perfect and cheerful. Her wicked step sisters did not like her, and her stepmother did not like her. She had to clean up house while her stepsisters and mother went to the ball. When her Fairy Godmother came to her house and gave her another dress, she went to the ball. Her Godmother said, "You come back at midnight or you will turn back like you were. Stepsister was mad and her mom was too. But Cinderella did not care and that was what I liked about her. She was so nice and perfect. She is the best!
Read the book and find out what else happens to Cinderella and her bad stepsisters and stepmother.

Here We Go Again
I hope everyone had a great break from school for the Christmas Holidays. I know I did! We are back at Langston and hit the ground running. Students are in classes and back on track. My students have been busy writing reviews of their favorite stories and fairy tales, and I would like to share some of these with you. So, for the next few days they will appear here in my blog.
Makayla writes:
My favorite story is Cinderella. The book is mostly about a girl and her father who marries a woman with two daughters. The daughters made Cinderella do their chores. When the stepmother got the invitation, she took the stepsisters and went to the ball. Cinderella wanted to go, but she didn't have a dress. When her Fairy Godmother appears Cinderella said, "I wish I could go to the ball." Her Godmother said, "Why can't you go?" "I don't have a dress." So her Fairy Godmother helped Cinderella. She turned her into a princess.
My favorite character is the prince because he is a strong man. My second favorite character is Cinderella. She is a brave woman and a strong person. I recommend this book for kid of all ages and adults.
You need to read the story to find out what happens when Cinderella goes to the ball!
Have a great day!
